THE SHAFTS
SOUTH

Four " shafts " of a section of approximately twenty
centimetres by twenty are known to date in the pyramid of
Cheops but nobody knows their exact role.
It is known that the shafts issued from the King chamber
emerge outside the pyramid.
The Southern shaft has a slope of 45 degrees, the
Northern shaft approximately 33 degrees 30 minutes.
The both twoQueen Chamber's shafts have a slope of
approximately 39 degrees and 36 minutes. (39°60
hundredths, according to the Upuhaut robot).
It is also known that they required a very particular
care in their implementation.

(Section of a shaft)
The Southern shafts are rectilinear whereas the
two Northern shafts are not due to making avoidance
of the Great gallery.
If one considers the Southern Queen Chamber's
shaft, one also knows that it did not emerge in the room
but in a hollow stone which preserved a tympanum of 8
centimetres, invisible opening thus from the interior of the
Chamber.

It is also known that its other end is sealed by a door
and does not emerge outside the pyramid
.

Many questions are still remaining as in their role
than in their implementation.(Click here to consult)
